Langres Fortress

United Kingdom

Only have five days here. Hired a car from Gatwick. drove to Hertfordshire to stay with some friends. I will try to get a picture of one of the narrow roads, lanes they call them here. Spent one night at some friends house and then drove to Manchester to look at a painting in the manchester art gallery. Now staying with a New Zealand friend who lives near chester. We hope to head back to London tomorrow. Hope school is fun!

Back to paris

Drove from Venice to Chambery in the South east of France. Just to go through the last tunnel cost 33 euros. Stayed the night then avoided the motorway and drove to sens about 100km south of paris. Drove to our hotel in paris. In the Saint-Denis area. Megan didn't want to get out of the car because it was so rough looking in the neigbourhood. The shops and bargains in the maeket lured her though. I had to drive through central Paris to drop off the car. What a releif to hand over the keys. Paris at night with the lights is really cool.

Italy

What a drive over the swiss alps. Went way up and through a 17 km long tunnel. Stayed in Padova and visited St Antonios church. No point in visiting any church after going to this one.
Visited Venice. Words dont describe this place. Had a ride on a Gondola.
Last night I was so hungry I ate horse for dinner. Yum

Switzerland

Drove all day from germany to Switzerland. Swam in Lake Geneva and climbed down a mountain to get great views of the Mattahorn. Ate cheese fondue. Saw a cool castle called Chateau Chillion.

Germany

Drove to Arnshain Germany. There are houses near here that were built over 400 years ago. Visited checkpoint charlie or as it is called there Point Alpha. Place where the treaty to collapse the Berlin was signed. Some sad stories here but worth the visit because it was history from my lifetime. Visited a castle and a palace. Big days,

LUXEMBOURG

This was great. Stayed 2 nights. Went to visit the old city. Built into the rock valley. Started raining so ended up soaking and had to return to the apartment . Megan was devastated we had to go shopping all afternoon between the showers.

France

What a place France is. Currently in a place called Dijon. Drove to Nuit St George yesterday, on to Chateau Chateauneuf, an then to Beaune. Look at them on the net. They are amazing. Went to visit a castle. (Chateauneuf) that was built in the 16th century. Then visited a hospital that was built in the 1200s. Having trouble finding a computer I can use to upload photos to the web. Today we are off to visit the biggest shopping mall I have seen. Then we are driving to Luxembourg. Staying there for a couple of nights. Bye for now

5.30 a.m. Hong Kong time. Forgot to let the Queen know we are coming so might have trouble at the gate to the palace. Still worth a try. Will say hi to Big Ben for you all and maybe get a photo.

Hong Kong is hot. 30 degrees. No acess to a computer to upload photos yet.
Went on the Star ferry from HONG KONG Island yesterday. Will write more when I can upload Photos

Now In Christchurch. Leave Chch 8.20 pm Monday. Leave Auckland Monday 11.30 pm Arrive Hong Kong 7.30 a.m. Tuesday after an 11 hour flight. Do the maths on that.
